Savonlinna cruising 2 / Savonlinna crucero 2 / Savonlinna croisière 2

In English:

Why Savonlinna? The only and one excellent reason is that it is famous for its castle of St. Olaf’s Castle. My cruising is continuing. There are pictures from islands and from the dock of Savonlinna. There are also a couple of photos in the sauna on the lake. Joke: “Every man must have a sauna on the lake”.

  4. Love the rocks-spent much of my teenage years sunning on those kind of rocks at my grandfather’s cottage. Interesting to see the tug boats too- is this fresh water lake or ocean?Like the cruise boat, thanks for taking me on the tour.it was a pleasant ride.

    • Hello Janeche.

How nice it was to read that this scenery raised memories in Your mind. Tug boats and others are in the dock of Savonlinna. Earlier small boats were made there as reparations also. This is fresh water area; it is a part of huge lake area called Saimaa which connects many small towns.

      Have a lovely week-end.

  10. What a beautiful part of your country! The forests right down to the water are fascinating and the trees on the small islands too! I will think a lot about some of those boats too, especially the ones that look as though they were made for harsh weather. How wonderful it would be to weather a storm in one of them!

    • Hi Terry.

This part of Finland is indeed beautiful with its lakes. It is one of my favorite parts in Finland. Even when driving by car, one can see lakes glimmering water here and there. Also it is full with history which culmination is the medieval castle in Savonlinna small town. This lake Saimaa can be reached from everywhere by water by passing thru some canals. I am glad that You liked my post and photos.

      Happy week-end!

    • Hello Davinder.

Thank You. Did You know that those steamships cruising on our lakes are old? The oldest one is called SS Tarjanne and everyone can make cruises on it in Tampere. SS Tarjanne was built in 1908. Personally I love these old steam ships very much. They are real “old-timers”.

Thank You for Your interest to my post and leaving Your comment.
