Those are all very enjoyable to see! Some of the art involved is splendid, and I detect a gentle sort of humor in others. Thanks for posting them!

Thank You.
You are so right when saying humor. For example the last one is showing a beer in its hands a beer stein in tavern. Well, it actually was a tavern of an inn.

All of these are wonderful wooden carvings in which shows detailed patterns of the wood! I especially like the wooden carved picture of the man in his shop by Kyla Seppa. It takes patience, the right cutting and artistic endeavor for these carvings. Beautiful!

Hello Anna.
Thank You. That Kyläseppä means “Village blacksmith”. The place was former the place of a blacksmith. Later owner’s one son transformed it into a service station, restaurant, shop, forging plant etc. One of the owners made this triptych which is presenting our living style from the past at country side.

Good morning, Matti,
All Figures are very beautiful, also your pictures too.
Each carving is unique in its own way and especially admirable. The lion is as the king of animals, a great introduction to the series. All bears seem, in its imposing size, very impressive. The images, from top to bottom, 1/2/3/4/5/6/11/12/13/18/19/20/22/23/24/35/36/37/38, I liked particularly well. If I had a big garden, I would set up all the wood carvings. In our vacation we were looking at an event to a wood carver at work. He worked the wood with a chainsaw and cut an interesting figure from it. This work was a big chicken on a motorcycle with sidecar and passenger. I photographed it. More in an e-mail in the next few days. I am grateful that I could look at this series. Thank you also for your nice comments in my blog.
We wish you and Anya, a nice weekend and all the best on your daily routes.
Dear greetings Christel

Hello Christel.
I am so glad that You found so many interesting figures here. Also I am pleased that You liked that beer drinking bear at “Oktoberfest”. )
I have never seen how this are made in live, only ready made. You were lucky when You saw it.
Schönes-Wochenende!

Hello Matti,

By looking carefully at my photos, one can easily to find out that there has been change of cameras. Sometimes it is “funny” that when I am driving and then I see some of these, I have to stop my car and to drive back.

Thank for Your visit and leaving nice comment. I checked those links and I have to say that very interesting. It seems so that in our world there are many who can handle wood. That’s great.

Thank you for another wonderful set of photographs. I love wood: wooden figures, boxes, carvings. It’s such a tactile medium. I especially liked the wall carving of the blacksmith.

Hei, Matti! I really enjoyed seeing the carvings. Tell me, please, in your opinion, is carving large and small still as prevalent in Finland?
Comment by Yvonne — March 7, 2013 @ 20:21 |
Hei Yvonne.
Thank *You. You made a good question, but I am not able to answer to it. On my travels to the northernmost part of Finland, called Lapland, I have found huge amount of carvings there. When seeing the matter in this light, I can only say that caving in life in Finland.
In my many posts presenting Finland from here and there You can find more carvings. Here is one example:
Beyond the Arctic Circle 2 / Más allá del Círculo Polar Ártico 2 / Au-delà du Cercle arctique 2.
Have a wonderful day!

Awesome and interesting photos and very inspirational to us !
Had a little chuckle when I saw your tall ship post………just did one on them myself a couple of month ago when
we had them here in Lunenburg.
Keep on doing what you do …………life’s to short to waste a minute 😉
Take care and greetings from Nova Scotia

Hello restless-roots.
Thank You for Your praising comment. I have had blogger ( Queens new life in Canada ) many years ago when I started blogging who lived in Lunenburg! Therefore, I have some idea about it. I remember when she told about Bluenose and Bluenose II. Although Finland is much more to the North, than Helsinki for example, landscapes have similarities. Lunenburg is very beautiful with is colorful houses!
Have wonderful day!
