Very interesting to read that You have there also log buildings. In my country summer houses made from logs are very popular. Also this was the start to that many houses are nowadays been built from logs. Many people has started to fit their summer houses made from logs for winter habitation nowadays. People love nature more and more and want to enjoy the nature around them.

    • Hello Nadezhda.

If I understand correct You are reffering to “shadoof” ot in Russian: “журавль”. This kind of wells were very typical here if we looking back up to 100 years. It can be found every where still, but mainly at outdoor museum areas. When I was child in my neighbour had one also. It was easy to use for a child too. In my language is is something like “attic well”. Now I remember that in my nearest town there is one nearly in the center of town.🙂

  3. I was very pleased that someone pointed out the shadoof. I have never seen a well like this before. We learn so much from other people’s Blogs. I really like log buildings. These look very like the log homes we saw in Austria.

    • Hi Jackie.

Oh, I could not think that shadoof is not so known. As You said, we are learning so much from other peoples blogs – that is so right. This is just the thing what makes them interesting, because they are like windows to other world.

  4. What lovely buildings in architectural log style as well as the woodwork details and paintings. I just love the artistic windows! I could spend time inside investigating the wares and the baskets. I enjoyed these photos!

    • Hello Anna.

If You read this, so take a look at the last photo again. In that photo You can see shoes. They are made from birch bark. My late father told to me, that his father was using them in real life. My farher, who was shomaker, told me that he made them also when he was young man. In our house, we had many things which my father made from birch bark, our house was burnt in a fire. What a pity!

    • Hello alaskanarcticexpeditions.

I am glad that You liked window decorations. They are something which nowadays are not so general, maybe because they need work to prepare them and work means more money to be used.

  7. Good day Matti,
the design and style of the houses like it very much. It looks very cozy and welcoming, there to spend the holiday. Karelia is known to me, because of the breed, the Karelian bear dogs. I think the way I saw it in the pictures, the scenery is very beautiful. It looks a bit of freedom and adventure. At the sight of your photos, the decision is difficult to know where to spend the holiday at first. All places look very attractive and beautiful. I am very glad that I could look at your photos. Next week I’m back in my website. Please check your email. I wish you and Anja all the best and health. Dear greetings Christel

    • Hi Christel.

It was interesting to read that You know the Karelian Bear Dog. When I was young, I had the dog which was a mongrel of the spitz and the Karelian bear dog. So nice looking, wise and I loved it. About my idea to pass few days on holiday at Bomba house is an idea and let us see. We are not slalom skiers and that it why we like to ski on a lake. To ski on a lake is familiar to us. The lake beside Bomba is huge and hotel is making skiing paths on it. When on a lake one can also itself take the direction to some island on lake and try to make as straight line ski tracks as possible. It is not easy, I can say.
