In English:
Walking tour in Helsinki1
Last summer we made a nice walking tour in Helsinki. It was not long but offered much to see. I present it for future visitors who might make the same tour following in our footsteps.
Our walking tour started from the Hakaniemi metro station and ended at Oodi – Helsinki’s New Central Library. Here is our route: Hakaniemi, Tokoinranta, Winter Garden, Töölönlahti, Hesperianpuisto and Oodi. At this point names sound odd, but no problem, because I have under every photo explaining text in English and you will not lose me. Total number of photos is 35 including the map to which I have marked our route by small black points. There are two arrows on the map. The arrow to the right shows the starting point. The arrow to the left shows the end point of our walk.

Existem duas setas no mapa. A seta à direita mostra o ponto de partida. A seta à esquerda mostra o ponto final de nossa caminhada.

Tokoinranta. We turned around and looked behind. The circle building is near to the Hakaniemi Metro station

Our walk continued and we stopped on a bridge which crosses the railways. The train is going to Leppävaara, Espoo. The trip lasts only 13 minutes

10. Before crossing the street, which continues to Winter garden, I shot the photo over the Töölönlahti

24. Continuing our walk by Töölönlahti. Now this area is called Hesperianpuisto. It is situated on the left bank of Töölönlahti, nearby the main road Mannerheimintie on the right and between Finlandia Hall and Finnish National Opera and Ballet

28. Information board telling about walking around Töölönlahti. Note that we did not take around it, but halfway, because our walking trip started in Hakaniemi Metro station and first photos Tokoinranta

30. Starting from the left to the right: Helsinki Music Center, Museum of the contemporary art Kiasma and at the left Sanomatalo (Press House)
31. Helsinki Music Center

Lovely photos and so nice to see the route of Tokoinranta parkrun (it didn’t look quite so green when I ran it before Christmas in 2018). Thank you for a lovely flashback for me and something to cheer us in these rather difficult times. I hope you and your wife are both well.

Beautiful! These could be postcards (and I mean that in a good way!) We have a lake in town, but here, most of the shoreline was sold for private homes. We cannot walk around the lake along the shore.

Matti

Thank you! This is very clearly done—I love how you did the map.
Comment by viviennemackie — April 9, 2020 @ 19:20 |
Hello Vivienne.
Thank you commenting. Well, map I made selected the Google map. Then I selected from key board => Print screen (prt sc). I am using simple photo processing program called by name Corel PaintShop Pro. From menu I selected Edit => Paste as a new image. Then I resized the photo. My photos have in my blog the size 900 * 600. I resized the photo to size 1500 * 844. Then I again cropped it to 900 * 600 and selected it moving to correct area. Then I selected a tool called Paint Brush. I selected correct size, round shape and started to press points.
This may sound complicated, but when doing it, it is not.
Stay safe and healthy!
