That’s a very pretty town! Everything is so neat and well-cared for. And the earth is celebrating the start of summer!

Thank You Terry.
Summer is busy and tomorrow is Midsummer Eve which is years’ biggest festival in Finland. Summer is short and man must enjoy it. We are spending two days starting from tomorrow in the Koli national park. Forecast for next day is good.
Have a great day!

How wonderfully lush and vibrant everywhere is now that spring has finally settled in. I think Mother Nature is making up for lost time.

I can smell that lilac! Thank you for taking me on this beautiful walk. Your Finnish style of housing is so unique and picturesque.
Every Summer I find myself singing “Lilac Wine” by Nina Simone when the lilacs bloom. Love it! 🙂
Have a great holiday!

Hi Sartenanda,
That looks wonderful! Sunshine and flowers. Here, it is very rainy and I can only hope that summer will eventually arrive.
Cheers!

Beautiful summer Mikkeli! I can smell the early summer fragrance of the lilacs all the way here in FL!

is that spectacular purple flower a lilac? weird that summer seems “late” in your town — you say “new” (for you) — have you recently just moved there? still, your picture show is very cheery and refreshing!
Comment by betunada — June 20, 2013 @ 18:35 |
The lilac is gorgeous. Seems it likes this climate and luxuriates accordingly. Matti, it’s nice to see your town now also during springtime. These typical colourful houses are always an eyecatcher – in winter when everything around is white and now between all this fresh green.
Looks great!

Hello Matti,

What a delightful, cozy place to live, Sartenada. My kind of town. I love how you Scandinavians get away with those colors, too! 🙂

What a beautiful place. I remembered summer houses in Finland. 😀
Comment by cocomino — June 21, 2013 @ 14:30 |
What pretty houses! I’m surprised to see so many of them in wood and none (I think, unless I missed it) in brick. I love the colours too in both the houses andin the garden flowers!

Your town is so charming; how I would like to visit! I especially like the red house with the barn style roof. Thanks for liking and commenting on the Cultural Museum in Oaxaca. I think I agree with you, that the artifacts from Monte Albán are my favorites. I love learning about the ancient cultures, particularly when the descendants still live there. History is very much alive in Mexico, and more so in areas with a large indigenous population such as Oaxaca.
Are you familiar with the photo journal site called blipfoto.com? It’s a site I participate in and it may interest you since you obviously like photography a lot!

What a lovely town! I’m so jealous of your summer because it’s very grey and wet over here in Holland these last couple of days. 😉

Quelle charmante petite ville, la Cité des Lilas. J’aime ces maisons colorées, au bois peint et jardins bien soignés. Il doit faire bon vivre à Mikkeli. Bel été !

Hello Agness.
It is small town with beautiful small harbour. Mikkeli situates by the lake Saimaa and there are nice cruises on it. We love its hiking / walking paths. These are few things to be noted.
Have a good day!
