  1. Once again I have enjoyed your photos and reveled in the sights from your country. It would be so enjoyable to shop in those markets, so much better than in the sterile department stores in our cities. The spirit of the people shows in those shops and despite the snow the market appears as a warm and friendly place to be. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Matti!

  2. Hello Terry.

I agree with You with shopping. This kind of places are lovely and in a way unique too. Of course we need other shops, but Christmas markets bring to us Christmas so close and concrete.

Thank You for Your nice Comment.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours!

  3. Merry Christmas to you!Now for random thoughts from me… I like the photo with the Santa climbing the rope ladder and the icicles on the eaves of the shop. The carousel is beautiful. Looks like there’s no heat in those shops-brave people-wait, now I do see there are a lot of those heaters outdoors. And I love the rides that you can hook the children up to in the inner tubes.I notice the northern lights in the pictures-do you see them alot in your country? We have alot of outdoor events but looking at the people in your photos I know I have gotten soft.Need to get outdoors and enjoy it more. 🙂 have so little snow this year-it threatens to be a brown Christmas.

    • Hi Janechese.

Very nice to read that You liked my photos and that You found something interesting.

About Northern lights. Here in the Southern part of Finland where I am living, they are seen very seldom. In the Northern part of Finland, which called Lapland, on clear weather conditions they can be seen many times. This year, I presume that You noticed that my photos are from last year, in the South we have a little bit of snow and in Helsinki nothing. Next year I’ll present

      Old Christmas postcards

again. It has passed today exactly two years, when I last time presented them.

Thank You for Your comment and visit.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours!

  4. It is lovely to see all the snow and the lights of Christmas. I think it would be so much fun to be able to enjoy Christmas markets, instead of shopping malls. The merchants must be very hearty to sit all day in the cold of their shops. Thank you for sharing this bit of Christmas from Finland. And Merry Christmas, Matti! Janet

Your photos are beautiful, and I saw many interesting and beautiful things on sale at the market. I haven’t seen a merry-go-round in the snow before, but it looks as if people were enjoying it.

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Yes indeed. It is for us also great happening. White small cabins against the snow are beautiful to watch and they are nice places to search for something special which are not sold in big markets. Those sellers, who offer their products for sale, are coming from all around Finland and they rent these cabins.

Thank You for Your comment and stopping by.
