In English:

This small nice museum is as a part of Olvi brewery in Iisalmi. Iisalmi is to the North from Helsinki at the distance of 474 km / 295 miles. Its history started in 1878. Olvi is making also non-alcoholic beverages, not only beer.

The town of Iisalmi is surrounded by lakes and rivers. When I walked away from my car to this museum, I saw a road sign with text Lüneburg 1505 km. I was very astonished, what’s that. Well, the solution was that Iisalmi has some twin towns and Lüneburg in Germany is one of them.

No more talks and let’s start the tour in museum.

  1. This looks very interesting, Matti. And it is all so bright and clean. I knew a man who said he liked his Beer so strong “He could dance on it” I don’t drink much booze these days but the Beer in Helsinki was deeply satisfying.
Thank you for some more excellent photography.

Thank You for Your comment. Well, Finnish beer is unknown, but some are worth for taste.

      Happy week-end!

  2. I always enjoy seeing the scenery from the area you’re visiting. The lakes are so beautiful and peaceful. And it looks like there’s a picture of Mickey Mouse in one of your photos too – very cute!

    • Hello Megtraveling.

The town of Iisalmi has lakes also. Lakes are mainly on the Eastern side of Finland. Of course in the middle of Finland there are lakes and some of them big. On the Western coast there are not so many.

      Thank You commenting. Happy Friday!

I really consider a reference through which not one only enjoys seeing exotic things, but also enriches one’s knowledge.

That was indeed nice trip which I made; You guessed so right. In addition to this museum, I saw a huge, really huge, road Orthodox Icon at one crossroad. Also an Orthodox church which I visited. Always it is not possible visit inside Orthodox church. The church was full with great art. Thank You commenting.

  5. Thanks for taking us along with you to this fascinating museum. All of it was interesting, but I especially enjoyed seeing the older brewing equipment. I don’t drink beer, but I did tour a brewery many years ago. The area around the museum is beautiful.

    • Hi Anneli.

Oh, I did not think that. Here where we live when walking, I am very angry when we see if some drivers throw trashes away from their car windows. it is not at all nice to see them among road side grass. We have here an old couple (between 70 – 80), who collect all scrap to plastic bags and bring them first to their home and later to waste collection area for sorting. It’s a hobby for them, and they do it for free. They do this about 3 – 4 times a week walking different routes. I take my hat off to them.

      Thank You commenting.

      Happy week-end!

    • Hello Wolke205.

Oh what surprise. Many years ago then we made one of our many car holiday trips in Germany, then my wife wanted to admire Lüneburg Heath (Lüneburger Heide), but we did not find them. Where we got lost and how, I do not have any idea.

If You take a look at my About me, then You see many photos from our many car holyday trip to Germany.

      Schönes-Wochenende! Matti.

      Bon week-end!

  10. The setting in which the museum sits is beautiful, and the museum pieces are so clean and in such nice condition! They look as though they could be put into use again will little effort. I could spend hours there just studying the machinery!

    • Hi Terry.

Thank You. Your kind words delighted me very much. This was to me the second time when I visited this museum. Before this visit, time has passed maybe over 30 years when I was there. During last years I have made one day car trips from my late father’s cottage. I calculated that I drove over 403 miles that day. Early wake up and late return. Doing so I have had possibility to explore my country better than then when I was working.

      Happy Sunday!

    Comment by Minna — September 1, 2012 @ 19:42 | Reply

    • Hello Minna.

Very interesting Minna. If You visit in Iisalmi someday, then I suggest You also its Orthodox church and to continue to Kiuruvesi. Why Kiuruvesi? There is huge road Icon. It is something which one cannot understand. The distance between Iisalmi and Kiuruvesi is only 36 kilometers.

      Happy Sunday!
