  1. The sum of my car knowledge extends to ” 4 wheels, steering wheel, motor, petrol, key, go”… for me it works like magic and I don’t need to know more than that as long as it works!

Himself on the other hand, Appreciates cars… not the inner workings (that’s magic as far as he’s concerned too) but the exteriors and shapes and the interesting bits… He’s going to looooooove this post (I’ll show him as soon as he’s back from his run this morning)

The tiny red car where the door opened our IN FRONT of the passengers gave me mixed feelings of “hey cute! whoa scary!” and the last car with the suitcase on the back with straps! … they lived in different times, as this isn’t really possible (to park in a city like this at least) these days.

I DO see that all of these cars receive a great deal of love and attention! they are beauties aren’t they?
I can see why some people really really love their cars 🙂

    • Good morning Kiwidutch.

Thank You. The tiny red car is BW Isetta 250, so it is BMW which were made between 1955-1962.

People love different thing; some love wifes or husband and some love cars! 🙂 Yes, it is so good to see that people appreciate old car and keep them in good condition. They sacrifice hundreds of hours to make them to look nearly more beautiful than when they were new.

      Happy weekend!

  2. Hello Matti,
Je ne pense pas qu’un époux ou une épouse puisse faire l’objet d’autant d’attention que toutes ces voitures superbement entretenues !! 😆
    Un régal, cette visite.
    Très bon week-end à toi.

  3. Oh dear, you brought back so many memories for me. I had just been talking about someone from University who had a ‘bubble-car’ in the 60’s, like the little red one in your photo. We used to all laugh at him as he picked up his girl friend and headed out for the evening! And the VW dormobile, camper van – my husband and I had one – not such fancy colours, just green and white. We travelled across Europe – heading for Australia – but had to turn back because of the Iranian revolution in 1979. I really like old cars and trucks and used to buy old Dinky models at auctions. I had an exact replica of the Ford truck in photo No 5. The old black Citroen in photo No 7 reminded me of old movies like Detective Maigret. But the star of the show for me must be the BMW in photo 16 – I am stuck for words to describe what I think of it! Amazing photos, as usual, thank you for brightening up a foggy Friday here in Lunenburg. Have a great week-end.

    • Hi Jackie.

My hat off Jackie, when reading Your comment. I mean that Your planned car trip to Australia. That old black Citroën is beautiful and might be Maigret’s car indeed. I checked that photo 16 from my original photo and in its signs seems to read BMW 328 Roadster from 1938. Well, that must have been The Car at those days.

What comes to that little red tiny car, I have in my earlier post four photos from the same model, but in blue. It has an airbag also, yes really! If You do not believe, check it!

      https://sartenada.wordpress.com/2009/11/16/vintage-cars-viejos-coches-voitures-anciennes/

Number five, was originally imported as coupé, but in 1939-1940 in was transformed to pickup and it was serving as wholesale’s delivery van. Later it underwent major modifications to its original look.

Thank You commenting Jackie. Happy weekend to You too likewise.

  4. These classic cars are all wonderful. I’ve seen a few of them in real life, including the little car with the door that opened in front. You brought back many memories of my younger years. Thank you.

  5. Wonderful cars! The little MG (#14) sure brought back memories for me! I used to own one just like it: wish I still had it!

    Comment by montucky — March 19, 2011 @ 03:44 | Reply

    • Hi Montucky.

So nice that You had memories from that MG. So have I too. When I was young air traffic officer on Canary Island (Spain) at Las Palmas in 1969, my coworker hired just MG and we drove around the island in mountains and that was great fun. The car worked splendid and that ride stays in my memory all my life. I remember very well how it accelerated fast and its breaks were awesome. Thank You commenting.

      Happy Saturday!

  6. I’m one of those people who couldn’t care less what car I drive. (My husband insists that I drive a SUV because they are big and safer. He knows about cars, I don’t, so I let him make all the car decisions around here. 🙂 But, I must say, cars in the old days sure looked a whole lot classier than they do today. I don’t think I would want to drive that tiny red car (#15)–it looks dangerous! Though it is quite cute.

    Comment by kateri — March 20, 2011 @ 06:15 | Reply

    • Hello Kateri.

Good opinion about safety, I like it! Well, here SUVs are not seen so often, because they are extremely expensive. I and my wife, we have same car model both of us, but with different motors. My wife has driven since 1982 with Opel or Vauxhall in U.K.

I bought my first Opel in 1986. Somebody might wonder why we are using only Opel, well, the simple reason that it is long lasting car without any problems. In Finland it is nearly most “dissed” car model! I just wonder it, but maybe some people are simply are envious. In Finland many people are envious and it is true and great pity.

Once our Opel Vectra saved our lives and we are very happy about that yet today. My wife was injured a little and me nothing. Besides Opel is quite beautiful “in my eyes” and when we make our car holiday in Germany every two year, it fit us, because on German “Autobahns” its max speed which is limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph, that fits great to us there. Here is my blue car.

I am so happy that that You visited on this post and left Your comment. When seeing these old-timers, many of them have been a great joy for eyes and giving joy to the owners of them. Now they have a new life today.

      Happy Sunday!

  7. If you had told me that I would enjoy looking at car photos, I would’ve disagreed. But, I did enjoy these beginning with that first one of the red truck. My heart skipped a beat to see the citron which was identical to the car we had as a child.

  11. Oh I feel like a kid in a sweet shop again!
    I don’t know which should I choose…
All of them are so beautiful and rare.
    I like Bentley cars.
    Which is your favourite brand?

    Comment by London Caller — March 22, 2011 @ 03:10 | Reply

    • Hello London Caller.

Thank You. Bentley is the Car, I know it. If I had enough money, then I might be interested in Corvette. I like cars which are sporty, which accelerate quickly. On German Freeways the speed 300 km/h or 186 miles/h, would be enough to me, so I think at this moment. Now I cannot drive with my car faster than 250 km/h or 155 miles/h, because the top speed is electronically limited.

One special might be Shelby GT500 Supersnake. It is looking like a family car, but it has 800 hp accelerating from 0 to 100km/ in 3.3 seconds to from 0 to 62 miles in 3.3 seconds. Quarter mile in 10.87 seconds.

About 40 years ago one of my friends had Jaguar E-type. That was also the Car at those days.

      P.S.

When You mentioned Bentley, did You know that Finnish racing car driver Juha Kankkunen made new world record with it in Finland driving on ice. Bentely was using Nokian’s winter tyres, same which I am using during winter.

Bentley Continental Supersports shatters world speed record on sheet ice – 205.48 mph / 330.695 km/h

      The video is here:

Now this record was beaten by Janne Laitinen by Audi RS6 with speed 331,610 km/h or 206.05 mph using also Nokia Hakkapeliitta 7 studded winter tires. This happened on March, 6th, 2011. The record was made on the Gulf of Bothnia in Oulu, Finland. Well, because it was driven on ice, it is awesome speed and think what winter tires we are using in Finland!

      Happy Tuesday!

    • Bonjour Anne.

      Merci beaucoup.
