Nile cruise2 / Crucero por el Nilo2 / Croisière sur le Nil2 / Cruzeiro no Nilo2

In English:

Luxor and Luxor temple

General information.

In 2011, we spent one-week vacation on the Nile cruise in Egypt. We bought all-inclusive package tour, including flights between Helsinki and Hurghada, transfers between Aswan and Hurghada, all visits on ancient temples, nights on a cruise boat with food and drinks.

How it was! Awesome. All the temples leave on visitors an unforgettable impression. There is much to see and to shoot photos. I shot 1926 photos of which I’ll present 361 in eight posts! We visited to these temples: Karnak, Luxor, Kom Ombo, Philae, Hatsesup, Colossi of Memnon.

The cruise is like making a time travel, travelling back in history for thousands of years. The scenery changes slowly and life along the banks of the Nile seems to be slow life, no hurry. From time to time we encountered other cruise ships, onshore we saw bovines, camels, fishermen, shacks, debris, palm trees, distant mountains, and as the evening progresses, spectacular sunsets.

The slow life continues on a cruise boat, eating, drinking ,sun bathing, admiring sceneries, resting and swimming in a pool. Everyday worries and care are behind and it’s time to enjoy life. The mind is filled with the excitement of waiting to see all those old temples.

This post:

Luxor is a city where Nile cruises are organized. Cruises to Aswan are most popular on Nile you can see different kinds of cruising boats arriving or departing. In this post, I show (15) photos from the town of Luxor and (26) Luxor temple area. Total number of photos is this thus 41. Luxor temple is situated on the east bank of the River Nile in the town of Luxor (Thebes). When we visited there, the night had just arrived. Night offers possibilities to get colorful photos, but shooting is more difficult than in daylight. If successful, it rewards the photographer. I didn’t have a tripod, so I had to trust on my steady hands.

As you noticed my previous post, we had orange scarves around our neck, helping us to find our own team and its members easily. I got behind often when shooting photos while our group continued forward without me. Orange scarves helped me to find my group. Because the area was full of other groups, it was not always easy. I think the color lights just added a new depth to the photos this time.

After photos I have selected some links.

This travel was once in the life time trip. To make this trip, we got the inspiration of this Finnish book:

      https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/エジプト人_(小説)

When we sailed on the Nile, we watched landscapes and life thru the eyes of Sinuhe Egyptian. Next two posts show the life on the banks of Nile.
