Some years ago, we made an organized tour to Sorrento, Italy. Why Sorrento? We knew that it was a beautiful small town. In 2016 its population was about 16609 inhabitants. Sorrento offered a nice way to make short excursions on one’s own to the nearby places like Capri, Vesuvius and Pompeii. We also visited Naples, but I did not shoot many photos from there and that is why I am not going to post any posts from there.

Although it has passed many years since our visit, it is still in our memory. Capri is an island, where You could visit once in the life time. Same words are valid also for Vesuvius and Pompeii. I could visit Pompeii once more, because I love history and it was full of awesome history.

Welcome to walk with us thru my photos in these three places!

Vesuvius

This time I show photos of Vesuvius. To reach Vesuvius, we took a package tour including the entrance to Vesuvius. The tour bus picked up us from the hotel. Our guide was inspiring when telling the history of Vesuvius. Without him we would not have so much information about Vesuvius, which erupted in 79 A.D destroying among others Herculaneum and Pompeii. Nowadays all necessary information is as near as Internet.

Our bus drove thru beautiful landscapes starting climbing up the slope of Vesuvius. More up we drove, then better we saw surroundings. Beneath us glittered Gulf of Naples and Naples itself. The tour guide fetched the entrance tickets and the we were ready for the adventure.

To reach the top of Vesuvius, we had to climb the steep slope of Vesuvius. Some people took hiking poles which were offered to them. We did not need them, because we were used to hike on our Arctic hills among free roaming reindeers.

When climbing up and up, the scenery started to resemble more and more the landscape of the moon. This kind of experience makes humankind humble in front of the nature.

Vacaciones en Italia – Vesubio

Alguns anos atrás, hicimos un viaje organizado a Sorrento, Italia. ¿Por qué Sorrento? Sabíamos que era una ciudad pequeña y hermosa. En 2016 su población ascendía a 16609 habitantes. Sorrento ofreció una buena manera de hacer excursiones cortas sin ayuda de nadie a lugares cercanos como Capri, Vesubio y Pompeya. También visitamos Nápoles, pero no tomé muchas fotos desde allí y es por eso que no publicaré ninguna publicación desde allí.

Aunque ha pasado muchos años desde nuestra visita, todavía está en nuestra memoria. Capri es una isla, donde se puede visitar una vez en la vida. Las mismas palabras son válidas también para el Vesubio y Pompeya. Pude visitar Pompeya una vez más, porque me encanta la historia y estaba llena de una historia increíble.

Vesubio

Esta vez les voy a mostrar fotos del Vesubio. Para llegar al Vesubio, tomamos un paquete turístico queincluyó la entrada al Vesubio. El autobús turístico nos recogió en el hotel. Nuestro guía fue inspirador al contar la historia del Vesubio. Sin él, no tendríamos tanta información sobre el Vesubio, que entró en erupcion en 79 A.D, destruyendo entre otros a Herculano y Pompeya. Hoy en día toda la información necesaria está disponible lo más cerca como Internet.

Nuestro autobús recorrió a través de hermosos paisajes comenzando a subir la cuesta del Vesubio. Más arriba que manejamos, luego mejor vimos los alrededores. Debajo de nosotros brillaban el golfo de Nápoles y el propio Nápoles. El guía turístico buscó los boletos de entrada y estábamos listos para la aventura.

Para llegar a la cima del Vesubio, tuvimos que subir la cuesta empinada del Vesubio. Algunas personas tomaron bastones de senderismo que se les ofrecieron. No los necesitábamos, porque estábamos acostumbrados a caminar en nuestras colinas árticas entre los renos que deambulen libremente.

Al subir y subir, el paisaje comenzó a parecerse cada vez más al paisaje de la luna. Este tipo de experiencia hace que la humanidad sea humilde frente a la naturaleza.

Il y a quelques années, quand nous avons fait une tournée organisée à Sorrente, en Italie. Pourquoi Sorrente? Nous savions que c’était une belle petite ville. En 2016, sa population était d’environ 16609 habitants. Sorrente offrait un moyen agréable de faire de courtes excursions de sa propre iniative dans des endroits proches comme Capri, le Vésuve et Pompéi. Nous avons également visité Naples, mais je n’ai pas pris beaucoup de photos à partir de là et c’est pourquoi je ne vais pas publier de messages à partir de là.

Bien que plusieurs années se soient écoulées depuis notre visite, elles sont toujours dans notre mémoire. Capri est une île, où vous pourriez visiter une fois dans la vie. Les mêmes mots valent aussi pour le Vésuve et Pompéi. Je pourrais visiter Pompéi une fois de plus, parce que j’aime l’histoire et il était pleine d’histoire impressionnante.

Vésuve

Cette fois-ci, je vous montre des photos du Vésuve. Pour atteindre le Vésuve, nous avons fait un voyage à forfait comprenant l’entrée au Vésuve. Le bus de tournée nous a pris à l’hôtel. Notre guide était inspirant en racontant l’histoire du Vésuve. Sans lui, nous n’aurions pas autant d’informations sur le Vésuve, qui a éclaté en 79 après JC détruisant entre autres Herculanum et Pompéi. De nos jours, toutes les informations nécessaires sont aussi proches qu’Internet.

Notre bus a traversé de magnifiques paysages en commençant à gravir la pente du Vésuve. Plus haut nous avons roulé, alors mieux nous avons vu les environs. Sous nous scintillaient le golfe de Naples et Naples même. Le guide a recueilli les billets les billets d’entrée et nous étions prêts pour l’aventure.

Pour atteindre le sommet du Vésuve, nous avons dû gravir la pente raide du Vésuve. Certaines personnes ont pris des bâtons de randonnée qui leur étaient offerts. Nous n’en avions pas besoin, car nous avions l’habitude de faire de la randonnée sur nos collines arctiques parmi des rennes rôdants.

En montant, le paysage a commencé à ressembler de plus en plus au paysage de la lune.Ce genre d’expérience rend l’humanité humble devant la nature.

Há alguns anos, fizemos uma viagem organizada a Sorrento, na Itália. Por que Sorrento? Nós sabíamos que era uma cidade pequena e bela. Em 2016 a população era de aproximadamente 16609 habitantes. Sorrento ofereceu uma boa maneira de fazer excursões curtas por conta própria para lugares próximos como Capri, Vesúvio e Pompéia. Nós também visitamos Nápoles, mas eu não tirei muitas fotos de lá e é por isso que não vou publicar nenhuma publicação de lá.

Embora após muitos anos desde a nossa visita, ainda fica na nossa memória. Capri é uma ilha, onde você pode visitar uma vez na vida. As mesmas palavras são válidas também para o Vesúvio e Pompeia. Eu poderia visitar a Pompéia mais uma vez, porque eu amo a história e ela foi cheio de uma história incrível.

Desta vez vou mostrar-lhes as fotos do Vesúvio. Para chegar ao Vesúvio, pegamos um pacote turístico que incluía a entrada do Vesúvio. O ônibus de turismo nos pegou no hotel. Nosso guia foi bastante inspirador ao contar a a história do Vesúvio. Sem isso, não teríamos tanta informação sobre o Vesúvio, que irrompeu em 79 dC, destruindo Herculano e Pompéia, entre outros.Hoje em dia, todas as informações necessárias estão disponíveis tão perto quanto à Internet.

Nosso ônibus viajou através de belas paisagens começando a subir a encosta do Vesúvio. Quanto mais alto dirigimos, melhor vimos os arredores. Abaixo de nós brilhou o Golfo de Nápoles e a própria Nápoles. O guia de turismo buscou os bilhetes de entrada e estávamos prontos para a aventura.

Para chegar ao cume do Vesúvio, tivemos que subir a encosta íngreme do Vesúvio. Algumas pessoas levaram os bastões de marcha que lhes foram oferecidos. Nós não precisávamos deles, porque estávamos habituados a andar nas nossas colinas árticas entre as renas que vagam livremente.

Ao subir e subir, a paisagem começou a parecer mais e mais com a paisagem da lua. Esse tipo de experiência torna a humanidade humilde diante da natureza.

How fascinating! You are braver than I to stand at the edge of such a fearsome volcano … but your photos prove that it was worth any risk. And did you hear that there’s been some concern lately about Vesuvius waking up again? Let us hope the seismic activity will turn out to be a false alarm.

  Merci de m’avoir fait un commentaire. Marcant jusqu’au sommet du Vésuve était enrichissant! Au sommet, il était difficile de choisir les points de vue étaient mieux – Naples ou le Vésuve – bien sûr du Vésuve. Nous ne sommes pas allés en Sicile, mais j’imagine que votre visite a été mémorable.

I simply have to repeat what I mentioned in former parts of this Italy-series of blog posts: It’s great to have such gorgeous views! The blue of the Bay of Naples is amazing and this time the impressive Vesuvius represents the final touch. When did the last volcanic eruption happen? In 1944? It’s nice to see how mosses and all the lichen flora meanwhile conquered the lava rocks.
It must have been a rather interesting excursion, Matti! Thanks for showing and sharing!

Wonderful landscape photos! I agree that going to certain types of places is much more interesting with a guide. Local people know many things about an area – much more than just facts about the tour destination! Guides are fun to talk to and you can ask questions. And someone has a job, teaching others about their homeland. Beats the internet any day!

Great overview of the mountain, and its crater. While I didn’t get up the mountain, I took a number of photos of it looming over Pompeii, still looking threatening. Not sure I would want to live on the slopes of that mountain! Thanks for sharing. –Curt

My mum had been up there and I have never seen a Volcano inside. Thank you for your amazing tour, now I have seen it too. It looks like it was still ‘cooking’ a bit. Was it smelly too and warmer up there?

  Il vaut vraiment la peine pour une visite. Marchant au sommet n’est pas facile, c’est possible. Il existe également d’autres sites touristiques dans la région, comme Sorrente et Capri. Merci.
