Vuokatti is offering to everybody ideal outdoor vacations with different style of accommodations. We rented a fully equipped holiday rooms for 2. In Finland this includes always Sauna also.
Every day we made hiking on tracks which lasted from 2½ hours to 3½ hours. It was raining only on one night and after it one hiking path was quite slippery, but everything went so well. Now when You look at my photos, they are a set of photos from these three days.
What to see in my photos? I start with a general view from our house. Our rooms are just back my car. Then You see some small lakes, paths, roots of a tree on paths, sporty wild ducks on trails, bridge going between two lakes, old and new rowing boats, lichen which reindeers are eating, ski jumping hills, vacation cottages under construction, outhouse on tracks, old man’s beard hanging on spruces, ants’ nest and finally a couple of photos autumnal fog seen from our terrace.

What a wonderful place for an Autumn holiday! The colorful Autumn leaves along the lakes are beautiful, and the walking trails would be very enjoyable! Also it would be interesting to watch the ski jumping in winter! I enjoy seeing so much of your country!

Thank You Montucky.
I am glad that that You liked these sceneries in my country. I think that to hike, the fall is also great time to do so. I have to confess that I have seen ski jumping in live only once in my life and that happened when I was kid.

Yes, it was interesting to have a tour of Vuokatti – just my type of holiday. I see what you mean about the lichen, just the same as we have here. They are so beautiful. Quite an impressive ant’s nest!

Hi Jackie.
Thank You visiting and commenting my post. Yes, I agree with Your observation concerning the ant’s nest. Happily ants were already sleeping. Lichen is common at this latitude and also nearby my home here in the South. I am living on large ridge and that is why we have in our forests lichen.
Happy weekend.

Hello Matti,
Très bon week-end.

Oh my! These are delightful captures of your Autumn holiday! The lake shots along with the boats are beautiful! And what a path to hike on with those tree roots! Whoa! Is Puusee an outhhouse? 🙂 Ah! You mentioned an outhouse on tracks. LOL Love the ducks walking on the pathway. Enjoyed this post and always a delight to see more of Finland.
Comment by Anna — October 29, 2010 @ 21:21 |
Hello Anna.
Thank You for Your visit and comments. It was nice to read that You liked to make a “virtual vacation” thru my photos. About Puusee, that is right that it is outhouse. Finnish word “Puu” is in English: wood, tree, timber. Water closet = WC and the word “see” is pronounced in my language as “cee”. We do not say Water closet, but Wood closet and also when thinking that those outhouses are made from wood, so it is quite natural to call them Wood closets in Finnish. LOL. Happy weekend.

I found it via london calling where You had some interesting comments concerning our Sauna. So, the world is small.
I hope to You also nice week.

Good evening Matti,
The autumn colors and the reflections in the lake are fantastic. I rediscovered some favorite images that I liked particularly well. There are, from top to bottom, the images 9/10/15/16/18. The interesting lichens in the pictures 22/23/39/40 and the large ants nest in Figure 41, I noticed. In our forests, I also discovered ant nests at that size. Some of them are surrounded by nets and protected. Figure 32 is very funny. It is good that such a house in the woods there. The last two pictures, please me very well. The fog comes in the background, excellent expression. All pictures are again very nice and it gives me pleasure to experience this trip. Thank you also for your comments and e-mail. I answer soon. We wish you and Anja, all the best and health to your common, everyday ways. Dear greetings Christel and Detlev
Comment by Christel — November 2, 2010 @ 22:39 |
Hello Christel.
Thank You commenting here. Your selection of photos is great. I checked every one. The number 32 was intended to be a little bit funny and now I see that You noticed it. Those 22/23/39/40, I also love them, because 22/23, they are seen general here where I live and this just that what reindeers are eating in Lapland. Those 39/40 are very seldom seen here where I live, but when I was a kid I found them in spruce woods. Those last two photos I will add to my yearly photo collection of my car which I publish every year in my YouTube videos. This year I am showing also some photos from my car when I was in Germany. I also will add those photos in which my car is together with Allure of the Seas which is world’s largest cruise ship Seas as its sister vessel of M/S. Oasis of the Seas; both made in Finland. I am sure that there will be many photos from Allure, but who has his own car in the photo with it? I guess that not so many. These photos with Allure of the Seas can be seen on Friday 5th, 2010 in my next post. So the name of my YouTube video might be something like: Vectra OPC in Finland and in Germany.

Comment by isathreadsoflife — November 6, 2010 @ 10:14 |
Bonjour Isa.

Hi Kateri.
That lichen is really special looking. My wife has used them when she made Christmas ornaments. Its color is different and it is giving “airy”look.
Thank You for Your visit.

I will definitely come back for more!

Hello Maria.
Very good Maria. Mother Nature is the Great Artist and every year it is wonderful to enjoy this happening. Also in the spring it is a wonder to admire when leaves start to grow slowly.
