  Thank You. You are so right and in Finland yes, but not so long time than in the States. We are learning and it is good. Finn Quilt is “umbrella” organization for enthusiasts. Its magazine for enthusiasts is awesome. It has terrific photos and when it Is coming to my wife, I am the first one to read it. 🙂

Once again I am in awe of peoples artistic handwork skills. These are all fabulous!
I especially liked the black/white/grey one with the zig-zag pattern that must be one of the most 3-dimensional looking quilts I have ever seen!
I’d have any of these quilts in my home with pleasure… in a heartbeat. (excellent idea to photograph the quilts on the floor from the gallery too, great shots)

Quilt is such a beautiful artwork (Isa makes some wonderful quilts!), I love most of all these fine pieces from Finland, many of them are SO fine made and beautiful. Are you or your wife making some of them?!

They are all incredibly gorgeous! I began to try to pick a favorite, but the list ended up including them all. I think that is one of the most beautiful, and certainly most wholesome, art forms.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many beautiful quilts in one place before. I thought the quilt with the fireworks was very pretty, but I kept finding more interesting and pretty quilts as I scrolled through through your post. Thanks for sharing this neat exposition with us.

  Thank You. That quilt presenting firework is nearly very photogenic. It is presenting the palace (orange house) of our president and to the left oldest house (blue) in Helsinki. Both of them are not exact copies, but adaptation of the quilting artist. The oldest house is from 1757. Great selection George.
  
  The fireworks is also showing traditional fireworks happening in New Year.

They are all so creative and colourful!

Quel cadeau, Matti, une autre expo de quilts finlandais ! Merci mille fois pour toutes ces beautés. Je sais le travail qu’ils représentent tous. Et tous sont beaux dans leur style. Personnellement je suis enchantée par l’éventail (151), les feuilles d’automne (155), la ville magique (163), le bargello bleu/blanc, comme la Finlande en hiver (168), les tulipes? qu’admire votre épouse (175) et le quilt tea-time (181). Mais en fait…. je les aime tous ! Bravo et merci pour ces belles photos 🙂

Quilting. What an art.

We have one that was made for Steven’s father long, long ago; and it’s priceless!

Our #1 son, who turns forty in two days, received one made by his paternal grandmother.

The quilts you photographed, are they permanently on display; or are they displayed but on sale for anyone to buy? Some of them are so beautiful that they should be showcased as wall art instead of as bed coverings.

  Those quilts in Your family must be really priceless! It is good to have them in family and keep good care of them. All these were only to be exposed, not to be on sale. The exhibition was biggest ever organized in Finland. Every year there is one the nation-wide exhibition. We have planned to visit next year in March nationwide exhibition in Vaasa.
  
  I think that to put these on walls or to use them as bed coverings depend on its maker. For example my wife’s big quilt which can be seen in my first quilting post (photo # 8), has served during many years as the cover of guest bed in our fireplace room. 🙂

Wow!!! Que de talents on retrouvent ici! Ces courtepointes me rappellent ma grand-mère. Elle m’en avait fabriquer une pour mon trousseau quand j’étais plus jeune.

J’aime beaucoup celles qui représentent des paysages, vraiment de toute beauté.

Guten Abend Matti,
Quilting is a very fine workmanship. Admirably, the idea and technology behind it. As a coverlet for our bed I would also like a quilt.
Each individual subject in this series looks and speaks for itself. Yet again I found some images that I liked particularly well in subsequent images: 148/151/155/165/176/180 and image 168, the blue quilt. Picture 170 the quilt in the middle. Figure 175, the tablecloth, the Christmas theme Picture 181, Picture 182, the roses, image 183 of the covered table on which the autumn leaves fall. In all the pictures I liked the harmony of colors. Please excuse my belated comments. The reason is that I want to watch the series in your blog in peace, then to leave my comment. I stroll through your world in peace to enjoy it. In between, I look at different days in your blog to
orient myself. I am very pleased that I was allowed to participate in this series again. I’m looking forward to the next series.
