Holiday in Italy – Capri

Some years ago, we made an organized tour to Sorrento, Italy. Why Sorrento? We knew that it was a beautiful small town. In 2016 its population was about 16609 inhabitants. Sorrento offered a nice way to make short excursions on one’s own to the nearby places like Capri, Vesuvius and Pompeii. We also visited Naples, but I did not shoot many photos from there and that is why I am not going to post any posts from there.

Although it has passed many years since our visit, it is still in our memory. Capri is an island, where You could visit once in the life time. Same words are valid also for Vesuvius and Pompeii. I could visit Pompeii once more, because I love history and it was full of awesome history.

Welcome to walk with us thru my photos in these three places! This time I show photos of beautiful, but expensive island of Capri. We took a ferry from the harbor of Sorrento to Capri which took about 20 minutes. Because we love walking, we walked to the center of Capri instead of using funicular or bus from Marina Grande. Walking to the center takes only about 30 minutes, depending how many photos You will shoot. The road is steep uphill climb and there are many steps also on the way up. If You will visit Capri, then avoid peak season!

  5. Our visit there was more like 20 years ago, Sartenada, but it’s one that stays in the memory. So much better to avoid the crowds by walking, if you can. Without them the island is a paradise. 🙂 🙂 Wishing you a healthy, happy year of travels.

    • Hello Tanja.

Yes, it was indeed. This winter it has been snowing everywhere in Finland including Helsinki. When it was autumn, in November, some press mentioned that our northern most part called Lapland is not Lapland but it is Crapland due to the lack of snow. It made me smile, because it was in November and November is autumn month not winter month. Nowadays the depth of snow varies there from 45 cm to 63 cm. Helsinki and its surrounds have snow between 43 cm and 58 cm and more is coming.

This was not the first time when we have very much snow in Helsinki. Previously I remember the year 2011.

      Helsinki covered by snow

Anyway, it is refreshing to have four seasons. Thank You leaving Your kind comment.

      Have a wonderful day!

      Comment by Sartenada — February 7, 2019 @ 08:10 | Reply

      • I also like to have four seasons, even though I struggled a little when I lived in an area that was snow-covered from November until April or May. Spring is my favorite time of year, so I prefer it a little longer.
I hope you are making the best of your winter wonderland.
        Warm wishes,
        Tanja

    • Olá Rita tudo bem?

Sim, eu sei.
