  2. These are fantastic. I saw one in Mallorca and the man said it took him 4 days and it lasts about 4 days, that is without the glue spray. This is an art and hard to do I can imagine. We all love the results. Thanks for adding the signs about it so we know how it is done.

  4. Good Morning Matti! Thank you for showing us these amazing sand sculptures, the detail on them is amazing. It was very interesting to read the attached notes on how the sculptures were created and to learn about the Finnish mix of glue and water to hold them together. Kind Regards, M.

      • Sorry about the last message – something went wrong! We have visited there once when we had a hire car and I thought it was lovely along the lakeside. I didn’t notice any sand sculptures though! M.

        • So, sorry that You did not see them. Here is little story. Couple of years ago a nice couple from Britain visited to Finland driving their motor home. They followed those places around Finland, which I recommended to them. One day I visited again Lappeenranta and when walking alongside the lake, I saw a motor home, which had British license plates at the distance of 10 meters. I thought that they might be those nice people, which I knew from their blogs. I wrote to them and believe or not, they were just they. Incredible that at same place at same time without knowing it.

  15. Gorgeous photos of these impressive royals, Matti! I like that they spray the sculptures to get a hard surface so that they last most of the summer. Here in Clearwater the Sugar Sand Festival only lasts about 9 days and is housed in a huge tent as the fine sand is left just like that with no spray.

Matti, you know that I already follow your blog for quite a long time and therefore had a look at your previous posts about these wonderful exhibitions in former years (as from 2011 or 2012) but every year again I’m completely thrilled about the accuracy and the skills of the sand sculptors. So realistic, so vivid, facial expressions and gestures are simply phenomenal!
Thanks for showing the new artwork of this year and for posting also details about the sculpturing process!

  26. The level of detail is amazing in this work. At Nummijärvi they had also sand sculpturing in August but the weather was so bad that they could not really build much
