Mikkelipuisto Park / Mikkelipuisto Parque / Mikkelipuisto Parc / Mikkelipuisto Parque

In English:

Mikkelipuisto Park is very near, about 1km / 0.6 mile to the centre of Mikkeli, Finland. This park presents ideas, products, experiences for your garden and also garden models. I love this small park due to its flowers. Flowers also give ideas for a man who starts a new garden. Of course, there is a small café and possibility to buy plants etc. When visiting Mikkelinpuisto Park, visit at the same time Kenkävero, an old historical vicarage, distance only 200 meters / 216 yards.

  1. Wow super Pictures. What a lovely park, with plenty of innovative benches to rest. What are the people doing? cleaning their carpets? In the park? Great flowers everywhere!

    Comment by utesmile — July 5, 2016 @ 08:04 | Reply

    • Hi Ute.

Thank You. Those people at one side of this park are washing their carpets. Carpet washing in lake or in sea is one of our traditions. In Mikkeli, it is now forbidden, but for example in Helsinki and Oulu, this tradition continues. Many people, did not traditional carpets in shops, but made them themselves. I have old excellent post telling more about this, I recommend You to read it:

      Traditional carpet washing.

      Have a nice day!

    • こんにちは私の友人!

Yes Misa, but mostly I have helped my wife to turn heavy carpets upside-down, fetch water for washing and for rinsing. Finally carry them to mangle. When they are quite dry, them assist to hang them on drying rack. To see all this, look at my post:

      Traditional carpet washing.

If You once more visit Helsinki someday, then go to Kaivopuisto to admire carpet washing. Thank You again for Your gorgeous Helsinki post and thank You for Your comment and asking a question.

And when I read the comments above I discovered your link to the the post you published in 2012 about the traditional carpet washing which I did not yet know! How interesting to learn about this tradition!

    • Hello Medaka4841.

Thank You. It is part of the lake called Saimaa, which is huge. The round stone is a decoration stone, which rotates by water. Generally these can be seen in shopping centers, but people can get them for them garden. Normally many have in their garden small fountains, but the round stone, which marble, is gaining more and more popularity in gardens. This summer has been quite rainy, but not everywhere in Finland. I am glad that you left your kind comment and made a question. どうもありがとうございます。

  36. I found your photoblog! It is very interesting! Hupisaaret is my favorite place in Oulu and you have taken photos of the motives I also have taken. Thank you!

    • Hi Ritva.

Thank You leaving Your kind comment. Hupisaaret is indeed nice place for multiple visits and I thought that I must present it to the “world”.🙂 I will check Your blog and leave comments. We love Oulu and that is why we have our second home here. Many have summer cottages, but we have a small apartment in Oulu. Oulu offers very much for a photographer, I have made already some posts, and more will be published later. I am presenting Finland, because it is quite unknown to visitors who stop at in Helsinki, but do not continue further to explore our beautiful country. I have results, because three Japanese Ladies have visited this year our country.

Have a great start of new week and month.
