Where: In Finland in Joroinen. Joroinen is small municipality and the distance from Helsinki is 302 km / 188 mi. There are three main things from which Joroinen is known in Finland. 1. Music Festivals in July. 2. It is called with humor “Paris de Savonia”. Savonia is the name of province where it is situated. 3. Finntriathlon Joroinen. Why it is called “Paris de Savonia”. Because there are many old manors on this area and people used to speak Swedish and French. Probably the most famous person who have visited in “Paris de Savonia”, in the 1980s was President of the French Republic Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.

Where, more closely: In Joroinen at the service station called Jari-Pekka. This service station chain has exceptional idea, because they do not sell alcohol and tobacco.

The crocheted tractor is old Massey Ferguson and it is totally covered by more than 1000 different crochets, which are made by the “group of knitting addicts”. Now it time to check my photos, because they tell much more than simple words.

I do not know, if You ever have seen my posts presenting Finnish quilts or my wife’s bead works or bags made from empty coffee bags etc. Quilt shows are incredible and always worth for a visit.

Awesome!!!! Especially love that little fella on the gear shift stick. Called “yarn bombing”, when found/done in public areas, usually appears mysteriously over night and without warning. This tractor version is a true work of art and piece of wonderment (just look at that young man’s face!!). Thanks so much for sharing this with us………your photos truly capture its spirit!!!!!!

It’s really amazing! You automatically start to smile! 🙂 Such a wonderful looking and exceptional tractor! These many different colours, patterns and ideas to decorate all parts of the vehicle are fantastic. I admire how the talented lady always found a way to create her crochet work in a way that her parts give the desired effect to the very special part of the tractor. Somehow it supports the original look, so to say.
If you look at the tyres, for example, you notice that her work is very sculptural and supports the impression to have this enormous tyre tread. Or the covering of the steering wheel, the speedometer as well as the kind of fuel gauge! And all the other details which are so nice to see: the green little dragon on the gear shift stick, the lovely owl as well as the rather soft covering of the seat! I love it! 😀

It was such a pleasure to have a look at all these details and to see such a unusual looking and unique tractor! Thanks for telling about it and taking all these pictures!

Wow! A lot of work went into this. Seems like the mirror is the only surface un-touched! Reminds me of the Rose Bowl parade in Pasadina, California each New Year’s Day – all the floats are cover with flower petals. M 🙂

Hi Matti. What a lot of work has gone into this, and a lot of thought and planning, such as with the crocheted text. In English we call this ‘yarn bombing’, and I often see photos of things like telephone boxes and street lamps on Facebook. The only yarn bombing I’ve ever seen in person was at our local arts centre, in the café – very colourful, but all the work of one person. This team of ‘knitting addicts’ have really pulled out all stops! Wishing you a happy weekend.

This is a beautiful work of art! I love it when people cover things in yarn. There is a city near here where folks knit “sweaters” for the trees downtown in the fall. It’s a city beautification project, and every year I walk through their downtown to see what they’ve made. Thank you for posting these pictures!

  I am very glad that You understand the value of things, which people make by using hands. This was one example how people can affect to their environment. Thank You. Sometimes hobby takes over all in one’s life. One lady has made 450 crochets. I was lucky to visit her exhibition and to shoot photos from her incredible skillfully made lace doilies.

This is beyond anything my pea brain could’ve imagined. See what I mean about people in Finland being so creative? Imagine the hours and hours to get the tractor done. Oh, my, gosh. Simply incredible. And, no. I do not crochet, knit, or tat.

I do embroider but haven’t done so in quite a while. It’s relaxing to me because it’s coloring with thread. No doubt Inga does this, too, since she’s so multi-talented.
