Oulu 2007 and 2014

In English:

In 2014 we made short (1410 kilometers / 876 miles) road trip in Finland. During five days we saw a lot of things, like churches, Poor-man statues, some towns, old historical wooden houses, sandy beaches, carved bears, aviation museum (already presented), Votive ships etc.

The city of Oulu (at 65°01′ Northern latitude) is one my favorite town in Finland due to its location. It is situated from Helsinki to the North at the distance of 606 km / 376.6 mi. From Oulu to the Northernmost place Nuorgam in Finland the distance is 715 km / 444 mi, which means that it location is nearly on the midway from the South to the North.

I presented Oulu 2013 before on our road trip to Lapland. So, I selected photos to this post from the year 2007 and 2014. In 2007 we had in the car trunk our bicycles, although our previous car was quite small. Oulu is walkable and bikeable town. People love biking there and the length of bicycle paths in 2012 was more than 600 km / 373 mi. Actually the cycleway network is the most longest in Finland. My photos from 2007 I took my compact camera if You wonder the quality of my photos. My 2014 photos show what we saw on our walking tour from the Nallikari camping site to the center and back.

  6. What a beautiful looking town! We must get to visit Finland with our motorhome sometime and have a good few weeks there🙂 By the way, have you seen I have got a new Boxer puppy?

    Comment by chrissiedixie — July 7, 2015 @ 10:03 | Reply

    • Hi Chrissie.

Thank You commenting my post. I will check your post to admire Your new Boxer baby. You are welcome to Finland using Your motorhome. We have good camping sites near to many towns and cities. For example, Oulu has wonderful place and I present the area in my next post.

About a month ago, a couple also travelling by motorhome from U.K. and they followed routes I presented for them. They were very pleased to my tips and invited us for a visit if we someday visit there. There were also a big coincidence. When I visited in town of Lappeenranta shooting photos, I saw a motorhome by the lake and thought that it might be theirs motorhome. I wrote to them when at home again and the truth is that they were indeed there. So near without seeing them, only 10 meters separated us.🙂

      Have a nice day!

  35. Sartenada … Many beautiful photos of Finland. I read about Finland being the top in education in Amanda Ripley’s “The Smartest Kids in the World.” It looks like Finland also has the most photogenic sites.

    • Hi Hayley.

I am glad that You loved Oulu. Its situation is fine, because our Lapland is steps away it. Lapland, which is the northernmost part of Finland, is an area where to visit when in Finland. Thank You.

      Have a great day!
