I visited a “UFO” / He visitado un “OVNI” / J’ai visité un “‘OVNI”

In English:

Some of You might now think that did I really visit it. No, I exaggerated, so sorry, but continue reading and look at my photos, then… At WeeGee Exhibition Center in Espoo (near to Helsinki by bus) there was this summer an exhibition presenting Futuro house. Futuro house was originally planned by Finnish Architect Matti Suuronen in the 1960’s. The original idea purpose of it was to create a summer house from plastic. Then came in 1973 Oil Crisis, which meant that dreams were not realized to sell them all around the world. Yet Today there are about 45 Futuro houses in various corners of our world.

The Futuro house in which visited was owned by Matti Kuusla from summer 1968 to autumn 2011 in Hirvensalmi, Finland. His Futuro house was carefully restored and give for visitors nice idea of this Finnish innovation. Nice work, I say.

  1. It’s a lot smaller than I imagined it would be… was is relatively dark inside? The windows seem very low down. Yes it’s innovative but I’m not quite convinced that it’s really functional or comfortable on a practical level. Having seen it first hand would you want to live in it?

      Thank You for Your comment.

Here is more info about it:

Both of these links are worth for checking, because they give more wide perspective about this Futurohouse. I recommend. I saved these links because I wanted first to see the readers’ reactions.

  2. Well done, Matti! Some more remarkable photos. However, I would not feel comfortable in that “House” It would be like a Goldfish is a glass bowl. Every night I would have a bad dream: maybe I would wake up in the morning on Mars!!!!!
Could it be pulled behind a car??????
I’m glad you showed us these fantastic photographs,
My very kindest wishes to you,
    Clive and Adi.

    • Hi Megtraveling.

Thank You. It was indeed. I expected very much to see this UFO. I remember very well when I was young when I saw similar on one service station nearby my late father’s home. It is pity that I did not take a photo from it, but I obviously thought that it is eternal there and world is not changing.

      Happy week-end!

  7. You look right at home in that Futuro home. I thought it was quite small, but it does look very comfortable. ‘UFO’ is a great description for this house of the future. It’s too bad that the price of oil has raised the price of plastics.

    😉

    Comment by elisaruland — September 8, 2012 @ 22:36 | Reply

    • Hi Elisa.

Thank You asking me from Outer space. Well, the trip from Andromeda was boring because the space between Andromeda and Milky Way is without the stars and thus I could not make a stopover on some beautiful star. Happily I had a lot of DVD: s with me and I enjoyed seeing again Seinfeld and Columbo. There was once a meteor storm, but happily my six-dimensional paratronic protection did stand the attack great. 🙂 Oh, I was nearly to forgot, that in the middle of my travel I received an emergency signal, but it was so weak that I could not locate its direction and distance. Hopefully someone else will save them, so I hope.

      Happy Sunday!

  16. What an interesting place! I could easily see that in a mountain setting as a ski retreat perhaps. But what if a real UFO landed alongside? I wouldn’t know how to speak to them!

    Comment by Montucky — September 11, 2012 @ 04:48 | Reply

    • Hi Terry.

Thank You for Your comment. Actually You are right about ski retreat, because so was its original idea to build it as a ski cabin. So You got the vision. There would not be any problems if some UFOs are landing alongside it. First, they might think that we have our technology ready for space travel and why not to start to establish commercial relations with us. 🙂 Second, aliens have simultaneous translators with them or they have learned English by watching television series like Archie Bunker. 🙂 So no problems.

Have a great beginning of the week!

  17. That is one exciting and fun experience. I would like to see one in person. UFO’s…always a part of my fascination for anything Sci-Fi.

    Comment by island traveler — September 11, 2012 @ 17:31 | Reply

    • Hello Island traveler.

This was great experience indeed. I am great fun of Sci-Fi and especially space travel. I have 1500 Sci-Fi books, but they are in French, so I cannot name here my favorite. I have read them thrice. Space travel itself is interesting.

I have been thinking it thoroughly. I guess that man starts it first within own solar system. Then man looks to the nearest stars. After that to other nebulas and finally to other universes.

Human being has to think when meeting alien cultures when being space traveler, is he a teacher for lower cultures or shall he be oppressor. Should we robber valuable minerals from lower cultures? What about collecting odd animals or plants to zoos. Does he spread diseases to other cultures and get them also.

When travelling to the stars, travel journeys would to start. Eco-tourism, hunting tourism are some examples.

Space travel also offers possibility to waste disposal, because to reserve one dead planet for leavings or to send them directly to sun.

Which kind of vessels should be in use? My opinion is that ships like the UFOs I presented here are connecting vessels and huge main vessels are built in space and there they stay. They are too heavy to land on astro ports. If not so, then they need excellent antigravity system. What come to motors, there must be many different kinds of them. For example motors with low power which are in use within solar system and more powerful when travelling between stars. What kind of motors there should be when travelling between galaxies, I have no idea.

When making space trips in huge ships, all kind of “workers” are necessary. One also needs new kind of maps when in space. In space we cannot think to the left, to the right, but we should think also to te down or to up and thus maps should be in three dimensional maps.

The big question still remains when thinking that human beings develop space travel and is: do we have wars then on our own planet? Yet today although we call us civilized but we have wars on our planet. When we are ready for space travel? That day when we call ourselves “people of the planet Earth”.

These were some of my thoughts about space travel and from us called human beings. I could talk from this theme days and weeks. Thank You for Your comment.

  18. I would say, that this is a nice and surprising sculpture or work of art. And maybe it could be fun to spent a few days of my holiday in such an UFO. But I do not think the environment and climate can be healthy and comfortable in there for a long time?!

You are absolutely right, I agree You. Although in one of links in which I gave when answering so comments, there are floor plan for bigger UFO-house, I could not live in it years. Anyway, the idea is nice and unusual architecture. I am happy that You had courage to comment this post of mine, because I believe that many leave my post without taking a look at it when seeing the word UFO in the title. They might think that my brains have finally “sprained”.

  28. Love the photos of your visit to a “UFO.” Did you see any “little grays?”

When I visited the Little A’Le”Inn in Rachel, Nevada, the gift shop had UFO driver’s licenses. Mine lists my height as 3’3″ and that I’m weighless (love that part), but it also allows me to fly alien spacecraft – an opportunity I don’t really think I’d be up to if one landed near me. Thank you for visiting my blog.

    • Hello Judy.

Thank You visiting my “UFO” – post. No I did not see. Very interesting story which You wrote. I envy Your UFO driver license. I am great fan of SciFi and I have about 1500 SciFi books in French. I started to collect them in 1975 and I have read them thrice. Last year I started the fourth tour which will take about 10 years to read depending how busy I am. Most of them are real space stories. Writers are French and German which mean that they are not translated into English.

      Have a great day!

      Comment by Sartenada — August 5, 2013 @ 14:10 | Reply

      • My comment about the UFO driver’s license was in one of my comments.I follow stories of this nature thru SciFi, “The X-Files” and “Doctor Who.”

Wow! That is a very ambitious reading plan. 🙂 I can read a little in French and Spanish, but that is very limited.

I just finished reading: “Into the Abyss” an extraordinary true story by Carol Shaben. The story line: “Only four men survived the plane crash. The pilot. A politician. A cop – and the criminal he was shackled to…” This happened in Canada in October 1984. An excellent read. .

        Comment by earthriderjudyberman — August 5, 2013 @ 14:34 | Reply

        • We have had here X-files and Doctor who yet “rolling” in our TV. I have seen Abyss movie many years ago. We had also in our TV Stargate (SG-1) and all others like Stargate Atlantis and universe. All those I have on DVD and also movies connected to Stargate.

Why I read SciFi? It gives to man free imagination and is an excellent extension to the fairy tales which I love as a child. One of my favorite book was “One Thousand and One Nights”. I do not know if modern children have heard about this book.

          Comment by Sartenada — August 5, 2013 @ 14:50 | Reply

          • Scheherazade’s stories – in the West they’re called “The Arabian Nights” – are ones I recall, too. I do hope today’s children read these wonderful stories. “Into the Abyss” is different than the movie, “Abyss.”. It is a true story and I bet you might find this adventure story of survival quite interesting.

  33. Kiitos kommentista blogissani.
Käydessäni eilen tuossa Futurossa, tuli mieleen, että olisi kyllä mukavan minimalistinen tapa asua. Turhat tavarat saisi kärrätä kaatopaikalle, pitäisi vaan välttämättömimmän.

    • Menit suoraan asian ytimeen. Tavarapaljous on ongelma. Asian huomaa muuttaessa ja silloin on “helppo” karsia turhaa. Kiitos kommentista.
