Herring Fair / Mercados de arenque / Marchés de hareng

In English:

Herring Fair are kept in every year in the beginning of October in the center of Helsinki in the port of market square. Nowadays the better name should be fish markets, because there are also other fish sold widely. Those sellers are coming by their boats from our archipelago.

First ten photos show to You my way passing through old area of villas which is situated nearly in the center of Helsinki. Photos from 11 to 37 show how the markets are looking like and rest of my photos show my way back to my car. Okay, no more talk, just walk with me to the Herring markets.

Mercados de arenque se mantienen todos los años a principios de octubre en el centro de Helsinki, en el puerto de la plaza del mercado. Hoy en día el mejor nombre debería ser los mercados de pescado, porque hay otros pescados también a vender ampliamente. Los vendedores vienen por sus barcos de nuestro archipiélago.

Primeras diez fotos Vos muestran mi camino que pasa por la zona antigua de las villas que se encuentra casi en el centro de Helsinki. Fotos 11 a 37 muestran cómo los mercados están realmente y el resto de mis fotos muestran el camino de regreso a mi carro. Bueno, ya basta habla, simplemente caminad Vos conmigo a los mercados de arenque.

Marchés de hareng sont tenus chaque année au début d’Octobre dans le centre de Helsinki au port de la place du marché. Aujourd’hui, le nom devrait être mieux marchés aux poissons, car il ya aussi d’autres poissons vendus largement. Les vendeurs sont venus par leurs bateaux de notre archipel.

Dix premiès photos vous montrent mon chemin traversant le vieux quartier de villas qui se trouve presque au centre d’Helsinki. Photos 11 à 37 montrent comment les marchés sont semblent et le reste de mes photos Vous montrent le chemin de retour à ma voiture. Eh bien, plus de babillage, il suffit de marcher avec moi sur les marchés du hareng.

J’ai adoré cette balade ! 😀
Une superbe journée d’automne, de beaux quartiers résidentiels, des gens qui flânent, une architecture remarquable sur oette grande place, l’ambiance qui y règne avec notamment les enfants des écoles, quelques musiciens et des voyageurs avec leurs bagages, les bateaux de pêche et les vieux gréements, et enfin les étals de poissons avec un assortiment varié et bien appétissant !
Je montrerai cet article à mon père qui est friand lui aussi de poisson et de roll mops ! 😛

  Merci pour ton commentaire détaillé. Je suis tellement contente que tu l’as aimé et a promise de le montrer à ton père, cela me réchauffe le coeur. Aujourd’hui, c’est une exception pour moi de contester si tard, mais j’ai eu un enterrement, mais demain, nous allons un théâtre qui est dans une autre ville et nous reviendrons le dimanche. Nous l’avons réservé il y a déjà le mois dernier.

Another nice walk through the town. I loved seeing the little art class and the close-up of the wonderful drawing with the sea gulls. Childrens art is just so free. I heard the accordion playing and smelt the fish. Wonderful Blog.

  I am so glad when reading that You liked my post. Those children You saw were all from some preschool. They are visiting once a week to some “happening”. I think that it is a good start to them to get knowledge about real life. I liked very much that young girl who sketcheded a ship or a seagull in harbour.

Many nice impressions from this day. Is it only herrings, that are for sale on this market? And are the old boats used for fishing the herrings?

  Thank You. Well, on Markets, if we talk generally, there are sold nearly any kind of fishes in many different forms. This market is specialized to Herring, but nowadays there are many other fishes too available. Concerning those boats, I am not sure if they are being to fish herring. Sorry, so little I know, but I guess that the answer is yes.

I really like the villas, especially the pink villa with the autumn leaves by the water. What neat fish markets! And accordion players too! I like the photo of the little artist who is drawing a picture… how sweet! The boats are lovely and very picturesque. I bet it so enjoyable to attend the fair, mingle, buy some things, listen to the music, and to photograph! I enjoyed all the photos and the flavor of the Herring Fair.

Good morning Matti
I looked at all the pictures and all I liked everything very well. I really like fish and got the sight, in Figure 23, loss of appetite. It is a pity that I could take no box for me from the picture. I would have eaten everything. In the pictures 2/3/4/6 I liked the beautiful houses including solar reflections, shadows and the environment very well. It looked very romantic and animated me to again take a holiday. Unfortunately I can not make it to come to Finland. In Figure 7, I liked the beautiful view to the lake and the branches, as the foreground subject, very well. In Figure 8 I liked the view from above of the beautiful house, the terrace and the lake very well. In the images of 9/10 I liked the view to the sea very well. In images 11-16, I noticed that all the boats are set up as a stand. So everything is made from the boat offered for sale. The idea is fantastic and practical. In the images 17-21 incl. 30/31/32/34/35/36 I liked the view port and the beautiful sailing ships. It reminds me of the holiday in East Friesland. Detlev and I visited there several ports. It was very interesting for both of us. In Figure 37, I liked the view of the market place. I’d be interested on what buildings I look at the pictures 38/39. It looks very classy in a pleasant atmosphere. I’d be interested to which I look at the monument images 40/41/45/46. The architecture in the pictures 42/43, and in Figure 44, the beautiful building I liked very well. In the pictures 47/48 I really liked the park. In the pictures 49/50 I really liked the architecture. Finally, I would eat at fast food a delicious fish sandwich and think about the interesting and beautiful trip to the harbor. I am pleased to again and again that I may witness your travel photos. I was very often on the North and East Lake and visited all the ports in two weeks. Finally, I could not remember where I started and where I left off. There was too much to see. I thank you again for allowing me to experience this journey in your images. It is a pleasure to look at everything. I like it very much. If I could I would give you 10 stars for each image. The images convey that feeling to be in place here. What a wonderful series of photos! I couldn’t make up my mind about which I liked the best, the houses or the boats and market. Then I saw the children. I liked them the best of all with their bright colored clothes! Great post!

  I earlier mentioned that those children were from kindergarten. I like very much that children are using pedestrian safety reflector vests. This way can be seen very well.
  
  Here in my country every one car driver has to have them in their cars. How is it in the States?

  - I like the safety vests very much. That’s such a good idea. Sadly, we do not do that here. I like the bright colored clothing in photos 25 and 26 too: perhaps the idea from the safety vests carries over to other clothing as well? Especially during winter when the light is dimmer and perhaps slippery road conditions absorb more of a driver’s attention, children aren’t as easily seen. The vests are great!

Quels beaux souvenirs de Helsinki et de son marché aux poissons ! Je reconnais bien l’endroit, les bateaux alignés et les marchands emmitouflés pour se protéger du froid. J’aime beaucoup le marin sur son bateau jouant de l’accordéon, les enfants qui dessinent le marché, les jolies villas de bois, l’architecture des maisons autour de la place, Helsinki est une ville que j’ai beaucoup aimée. Merci pour cette belle série de photos toutes plus belles les unes que les autres 🙂

What a beautiful walk, you captured the light and colors very well.
