Allure of the Seas- world’s largest cruise ship.
It was a cool and fresh day with some fog on Wednesday October 27th, 2010 when I headed my car towards Turku. My intention was to take photos from Allure of the Seas which was quite ready to leave to the States next day. It was built in the shipyard called Perno nearby city of Turku.
M/S. Allure of the Seas as its sister vessel of M/S. Oasis of the Seas which is making cruses since 2009. Now it was time for Allure of the Seas after two years of construction to start to serve cruising passengers from Fort Lauderdale, Florida also. These two ships are largest cruise ships in the world until somebody makes bigger.
Next day on Thursday it was officially delivered to the shipping company Royal Caribbean International and the construction was ahead of schedule. Great! On Friday 29th it started its trip to its homeport Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale where it will arrive in November 11th, 2010. Its maiden voyage is set for December the first.
I selected the opposite strand of the shipbuilding yard of Perno to take my photos. The weather was some hazy and sun against my eyes. The haze is not so big problem than the sun against lens is because at this season the sun is at low level. Okay, I tried my best searching best places to take photos. I walked along small sinuous path among trees and crisscrossing among bushes. That You can see in my photos. Of course I had to take photos from my car and at background Allure of the Seas. It is my own “brand” as some of my readers might have been noticed.
There is one specialty which Allure of the Seas is offering is the first 3 D theatre on seas.

Height: 72 meters / 236 feet above water line.
Beam: 47 meters / 154 feet at waterline and 60.5 meters / 198 feet extreme.
Decks: 16 passenger decks.

Crew: 2,165.
Power: 6×Wärtsilä diesel engines with 97,000 kW.

Era el día fresco con un poco de niebla miércoles 27 de octubre de 2010, cuando me dirigí mi carro hacia Turku. Mi intención era para sacar fotos de Allure of the Seas, que estaba dispuesto a empezar su viaje a Estados Unidos de América el día siguiente. Fue construido en los astilleros de Perno cerca la ciudad llamada Turku.
Allure of the Seas como su nave hermana Oasis of the Seas, que está haciendo cruces desde 2009. He seleccionado la ribera de frente del astillero de Perno para sacar mis fotos. El tiempo era un poquitito neblina yy el sol estaba en contra de mis ojos. La neblina no es problema tan grande que el sol contra la lente porque el sol está en esta época en nivel bajo. Muy bien, hice mi mejor esfuerzando buscar los mejores lugares para tomar fotos. Caminé a lo largo de camino sinuoso entre árboles pequeños y entrecruzan arbustos. Esto se puede ver en mis fotos. Por supuesto que tuve que sacar fotos de mi coche y al fondo de Allure of the Seas al fondo. Es mi propia “marca”, como algunos de mis lectores se han dado cuenta.
Hay una especialidad que Allure of the Seas ofrece es el primer teatro de 3D en los mares.

C’était un journ fraîche avec un peu de brouillard le Mercredi 27 de octobre 2010 lorsque je me suis dirigé ma voiture vers Turku. Mon intention était de prendre des photos de Allure of the Seas qui était tout prêt à partir aux États-Unis d’Amérique le lendemain. Il a été construit dans le chantier naval appelé Perno dans la ville voisine de Turku.
Allure of the Seas que son navire jumeau Oasis of the Seas qui faire des croisières depuis 2009. Maintenant il était temps pour Allure of the Seas de commencer à servir les passagers de croisière de Fort Lauderdale, en Floride également. Ces deux navires sont les plus grands navires de croisière dans le monde jusqu’à ce que quelqu’un fait le plus grand.
Le lendemain, le jeudi il a été officiellement remis à la compagnie Royal Caribbean International. Le vendredi 29 il a commencé son voyage vers la Port Everglades à Fort Lauderdale où il arrivera en Novembre 11th, 2010. Son voyage inaugural est prévu pour le premier Décembre.
J’ai choisi la rive opposée du chantier naval de Perno de prendre mes photos. Le temps était brumeux et le soleil contre mes yeux. La brume n’est pas un problème si grand que le soleil face à lens, c’est parce qu’à cette saison le soleil est au niveau bas. Bon, j’ai essayé de mon mieux de chercher les meilleurs endroits pour prendre des photos. Je marchais le long du petite chemin d’entrecroisement parmi les arbres et les buissons. Ceci peut être vu dans mes photos. Bien sûr, j’ai dû prendre des photos de ma voiture et au fond d’Allure of the Seas. Il est de mon propre “marque”, comme certains de mes lecteurs pourraient avoir été remarqué.

Oui t’as tellement raison Marion. Je pense que les limites de ces géants sont maintenant tout près. Les problèmes seront ports, pas d’équipage, pas restauration, pas divertissement, pas pilotage ou de confort. Non, il ya des limites dans les ports où ils se rendront. Je dois faire une confession, que nous voulions prendre une semaine de croisière sur ce navire, même si le prix est astronomique. Peut-être il va rester comme un rêve. 🙂

What a magnificent ship… huge! I enjoyed your series of photos very much that showed a variety of perspectives. Wow! And beautiful shots through the trees and field. Lovely shots in all. I bet it would take some time to tour a ship like that, and I would love to personally see the Captain’s Mast… control area. 🙂

I enjoyed seeing your photos of the new ship! It’s just massive! As Anna said, it would take some time to take a tour of the ship, perhaps an entire cruise! It’s hard to imagine a ship that large for non-military purposes. Bet it’s a smooth ride!

Cruises are quite popular here. We have every day plenty of departures between Estonia and Sweden. People are used to make in them during decades. I did my first cruise to Copenhagen already in 1960. Last summer we made a cruise to Germany and that was the third one. Of course these ships are not as huge as Allure of the Seas.
To travel on a ship it is every time an experience. Maybe the best thing is when onboard on a ship is that one has to forget his haste. That is same kind of thing when we are hiking in the nature.

Très impressionnant ! J’ai vu un tel navire – mais plus petit – dans le port d’Istanbul, une ville flottante 😉 Lorsque les passagers débarquent en ville…. ça fait un flot énorme de visiteurs dans les rues, partout ! J’aime beaucoup les photos prises à travers les roseaux ou la forêt, ça ajoute une note poétique à ces images d’une construction technique incroyable. J’aime voir comment les touristes voient mon pays. Généralement, ils sont pressés ou ils participent en sightseeings de prédisposés.

I loved the way you photographed this ship…with it always looking like it is in the mist even though the foregrounds of most of the photos are sharp and clear. The “misty” feel to the ship adds to its “allure”.

This ship was so big when I was it very near that I could not understand its size. Photo number 28 is cropped from 27. In that photo one can see three men working with “wind bag”. Also the small motorboat in 27 is so small compared with the ship.

First time when the Oasis of the Seas passed under that bridge it was a “miracle” and Oasis had good luck, but now it went better, I think. All images are unique and admirable. Despite the fog and the many circumstances that were raised to come into the vicinity of the ship, you pictures are very good. I’m happy for you that you were at the right time on the spot. It was perhaps a unique opportunity to continually fail sometimes. Such moments are fascinating and a very nice memory of this eventful day. From top to bottom, the images 1/5/6/14/16/17/23/24/27/29/30/31, are particularly beautiful. For that I thank you sincerely. In Figure 28 I discovered a boat on the outside wall. It is very small. I think it is a lifeboat? In the picture 8/9, the viewing angle is fantastic and the view of the ship. In the images of 12/13, as I like the branches of the foreground subject. In Figure 22 I like the grass as the foreground subject. We were able to witness the actual circumstances associated with these pictures. But I think that only millionaires can afford a trip on this ship. In a TV program I watch a movie in between. The film’s title is “The Dream Ship”. It is the luxury ship Aida. In this film, I experience the luxury and all travel on the ship. It is very beautiful. So I try to imagine myself mentally to take a trip on the Allure of the Seas. Thank you very much, that I got to experience this journey again. I liked it very well and I look forward to the next trip to your blog. Thank you for all your nice comments and stars in my blog. I am very glad that you liked my pictures. Thank You for Your so detailed comment. When I read it I felt myself to revisit again my photographing tour of the ship again. LOL.
In photo 31 there is an example of eight yellow life boats outside of the hull. One seems to be nearby the water line (I checked the original photo in bigger format) and maybe it will put soon to its final place on the hull.
In my next post I’ll visit in the South harbor of Helsinki, but presenting the very different theme. Just wait until next Friday!

Your images are breath taking and you give a good perspective. The ship looks so huge. Just like the huge airbus, this thing looks scary. So massive, like a floating city. Somehow I can not see myself getting on one of these things. Not in today’s world… Then again I’m getting old and things bother me now which didn’t when I was much younger.

I don’t really see a holiday on one of these as your scene, but as you say, it would be a once in a lifetime trip. It would certainly make an interesting Blog, for me to read.

Thank You commenting here. Well, the fact is that I have been driving in Saint-Nazaire in October 2003. If I remember correct there was huge and high bridge before Saint-Nazaire. Were coming from Le Mans were we spent a night. When continuing from Saint-Nazaire, our next night stop was Lorient. After that problems started to us and many others also, because there was a strike in France and we had great problems to get gasoline and so we spent three nights in Rennes. Our car holiday to drive around in Bretagne stopped there. Now after many years we are still talking with smile what happened to us in Bretagne – we got an adventure.

I have been on the Oasis Of The Seas, the sister ship which is only about 2 or 3 inches smaller, and it is also a stunning ship. You must be so proud that the Allure was made in your country.

Oh thank you for directing me to your blog, wonderful pictures, I’ve really enjoyed viewing them. The captain who was responsible for taking the Allure of the Seas to America was the same captain that was in charge of the cruise my husband and I went on last February. He explained that the funnels etc had to be lowered at one of the bridges as there was such a narrow clearance. Even knowing that he made it through, when I watched the video I found myself holding my breath! She is a wonderful ship and I’m so pleased I’ve sailed in her. Once again thank you.

Another reason was to get my car Opel Vectra OPC in the same photo with Allure of the Seas. You are lucky people when You have had been cruising on it. We have also plans, but have to wait yet. “Allure of the Seas” era cosa que tenía que fotografiar! Mil gracias por tu visita y comentario! Yo tenía mi carrito azul desde 2007 hasta 213. Fue mi primer coche con motor potente (280 CV). Tengo cientos de fotos, lo que me he tomado en mis viajes alrededor de Finlandia. También tengo un post sobre ello. Gracias a notar mi carrito. No era el número uno de mi vida. ¿Quién es es el número uno?, claro que tu sepas!

Wow that is big. The boat in my photos had 2,500 passenger capacity so this is over double that number. I wonder if it was in New Zealand Christmas 2016 as we were told there was a ship of that kind of capacity following us but it couldn’t get into all the fjords we got to.
